1940's Crouse Hinds VDA1200 mated with a Holophane 2328 Globe (6 fixtures)
The appeal of this light is obvious. Beauty almost beyond compare. And....functionality. It might have little secret inside, a wattage saving CFL bulb if you choose and nobody will be the wiser. If you choose to install a 200 watt bulb.....that works too.
The lights were purchased from a munitions plant in Baraboo Wisconsin. They were then disassembled, cleaned and inspected. The original patina of the Crouse Hinds mount was protected with a clear coat of lacquer. This step make the light easy to keep clean,
The original Crouse hinds sockets were cleaned, inspected and re-wired with 14 gauge copper wire. The socket was then re-installed using a new gasket and brass screws.
The signed Holophane globes were cleaned to reveal a very nice shine, a prismatic globe that distributes light far and near. No flea-bites noted.
The ceiling mount is an original Crouse Hinds cast iron box cover that can either be mounted directly to the ceiling or an electric box. The Crouse Hinds Flexible Fixture Hanger allows the light to hang straight from a cathedral ceiling. It also helps protect the light from damage if bumped.
The globe is about 8 1/2 inches in diameter. The threads on the globe are 4 1/8" diameter. The fitter is 4" tall to the rod. The rod length is about 10 inches. Overall, the lights are about 23" from bottom to top.
No expense was spared during the restoration of these amazing vintage lights and ALL parts are original and sought after Crouse-Hinds.
